  • Can you design or build something for me?
Yes! Absolutely. Although I will mention I have a lot on the go. Depending on the complexity, time required, or budget available, I may or may not be able to help. You can definitely shoot me an email and I will do my best to accomodate. Also if you're just interested in picking my brain, that is great too, I generally respond to all emails.
  • Do you only do open source projects?
No, actually. I have done, and am currently doing work with several companies where the products are not open source. My open source stuff is generally related to my Youtube channel where I want anyone to be able to recreate it at no cost to them. This also means people can improve the parts where I could have done better. If you have something you want made or designs that is proprietary in nature, I am happy to help.
  • What did you go to school for?
I went to McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. I recieved a Bachelor of Technology in Automotive and Vehicle Tech. and then went on to do my M.a.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. My project involved designing and programming a sensor to detect and diagnose faults in an internal combusion engine using a Neural Network. I never actually went to school for electrical design, and it was something that I had a lot of interest in teaching myself, so I did it. It was one of my better decisions in life.
  • Why open source?
Open source allowed me to get to the point where I am in life now. My electrical and circuit design was all self taught, and most of what I learned was through open source projects that I was able to break down, and learn how they worked. I want to pay it forward, and in doing so I continue to learn more skills each day. I am a very strong advocate of free education and knowledge.
  • If everything is open source, how do you make money?"
I still do projects that generate income that are not on Youtube. For instance, I continue to work with my school in designing labs and equipment that students can use to learn various subjects. However, the point that I want to get to is to be able to design and distribute projects solely on the support of my viewers. I have setup a number of ways my viewers(who can spare it) can contribute monthly to me and my projects.
